why holiday in the algarve?
The Algarve has more to
offer than sunshine, beaches, good food and wine - if you want a
change from relaxing by the pool, have fun at one of the big water
parks or visit Zoomarine where you can swim with the dolphins and
watch the sea lions and seals performing. If you are feeling energetic
or just want to try something different, why not play tennis at
one of the many tennis clubs, or for those that like horse riding
have a hack through the countryside.
There are plenty of watersports including windsurfing,
diving, jet-ski hire, surfing on the west coast and para-gliding.
Have a boat trip along the coast, a river trip in a big canoe to
Silves, deep sea fishing or a dolphin 'seafari' where you will be
able to see the dolphins in their natural environment. A great day
out is a jeep safari in the hills where you will be driven through
beautiful countryside, sample the local medronha and stop for a
delicious lunch of chicken piri-piri with unlimited wine.
Portugal is steeped in history and it is well worth
visiting towns such as Silves – the old capital of the Algarve,
Lagos, Loulé and drive down to Cape St Vincent – the
most western point in Europe – stopping at Sagres on the way.
And, of course, the Algarve has some of the finest
golf courses in Europe where, because of the wonderful climate,
golf can be played all year round.
